ICRA 2024 Paper and Expo Demonstration

We got to present a paper at the 2024 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) conference in Yokohama, Japan. This paper [1] was the excellent work of a very talented undergraduate, Katelyn King, who joined the lab as a Mu-RoAM student and stayed on to do her own project. She also created two videos to demonstrate the results, one for the paper and one for the robot expo demo we did.

The robot itself is an ESP32 based version of our Medium-ANT robot, which was originally designed and built by Hao Luo using the Polulu Wixel hardware, but recently revised to use the ESP32-CAM board with the help of Enxu Liu and my start-up co-founder Benny Shani. This new iteration of Medium-ANT costs about $150 in parts – probably the least expensive hexapedal robot you can build.
